BridgePoint's SCEM Solution Delivers Critical Visibility and Alert Functionality During Turbulent Times

Shipment tracking and alerting services prove invaluable for our customers when west coast port operations closedä and when they reopened

CARY, N.C., Nov. 12, 2002 -- BridgePoint, Inc. the leading provider of global, multimode supply chain visibility solutions announced today that The Procter & Gamble Company (P&G) successfully employed its global supply chain event management (SCEM) solution to minimize the effects of the west coast port stoppage.

Using BridgePoint's SCEM solution, P&G was able to quickly understand which shipments and customers might be impacted by the bottleneck in the ports. They were also able to identify risk to future shipments that were en route, moving between ports or still being assembled, and take appropriate action.

"Visibility is key everyday, but especially during a crisis" says Pam Hessler, International Services Manager for P&G's Global Cross Border team. "With visibility into our supply chain using BridgePoint, we knew where our inventory was and we were able to process new orders."

In addition to tracking and tracing product while in-transit, P&G is using BridgePoint's SCEM solution to monitor, measure and manage internal and external events across their supply chain. "This functionality has enabled P&G to monitor delays and use BridgePoint's alerting functionality to automatically provide updated ETA's as shipments begin moving again."

BridgePoint's tracking and alerting tools are only a small part of their entire SCEM solution that also includes proven connectivity, data management and analytical reporting tools. These tools help companies build a global supply chain network, manage data quality and analyze information.

"We collect and transform data from carriers into the knowledge our clients need to better manage their supply chains," says Peter Sola, vice president of commercial services at BridgePoint. "In the light of recent events, detailed product tracking has grown in importance for its role in customer service, but greater value is achieved when customers use it to reduce inventory, improve planning or avoid order financing costs."
